BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. With the school year over, the Briarcliff Manor School Districts Board of Education has handed out a passing grade and a bonus to Schools Superintendent Neal Miller.
At its regular meeting Tuesday night, the board unanimously approved a non-recurring performance-based incentive for Miller in the amount of 5 percent of Millers annual salary. Miller earns $235,000 annually, so the bonus is $11,750, according to his contract with the district. Miller just completed his first year as superintendent of the district.
Board President Guy Rotondo said Thursday that he was very pleased with Millers first year as superintendent.
Neals done a great job, Rotondo said. Hes added a lot to our district this year.
Rotondo referred all other comments to the superintendents contract, available on the districts website.
The 5 percent incentive is based upon the present economic circumstances, the boards evaluation of Millers performance and an assessment based on annual goals, according to the contract. The contract requires that the board grant a 2.5 percent incentive annually unless the board deems it impossible due to economic conditions. The 5 percent incentive indicates a Very Good Performance, but it was possible for the board to grant a 10 percent incentive for Exceptional Performance, according to the contract.
Miller said Thursday that he did not want to talk about himself, but was thankful for the evaluation.
Im ecstatic over the support of the board and its very nice, Miller said. The fact is its personal and I would rather comment on things with the district, not with me personally. But it is nice.
