Pennacchio, who has been a varsity track standout throughout her five-year career at the school, has received multiple honors in her final year. She was recently named a Con Edison Athlete of the Week for her outstanding fall cross-country season, during which she was named the Section I Class C champion and competed in the New York State Championship.

“I was really excited to be selected for [the Con Edison award] because it was really competitive,” she said.

In addition, she was named the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association female Student-Athlete Scholar for Chapter One, earning a $250 scholarship check. She has also qualified to represent Section I on the national stage of the competition.

The captain of the cross-country and track teams, Pennacchio holds 11 individual school records and is part of four relay records. She credits the growth of the teams she is a part of to the strong momentum and success the program has seen in recent years.

“Our team has really improved over the past five years, and I can see that in the records,” she said.

In addition to being an outstanding athlete, Pennacchio is a strong student who has earned several academic accolades.

“I try to balance my time well,” she said. “I know what I have to do and when I have to do it by.”
