OSSINING, N.Y. TGIF! This weekend features a tango concert, family-friendly festivals, a luau to raise money for education and more. Here's a list of events:
Caramoor Fall Festival, Friday 7:30 p.m., Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 4 p.m.
The New York Philharmonic, led by music director Alan Gilbert, will perform with solo violinist Augustin Hadelich on Friday. On Saturday, Kelli O'Hara will sing Broadway favorites and on Sunday young musicians from Caramoor's mentoring programs will perform. Concerts are at Caramoor's Venetian Theater in Katonah. Tickets cost $44.50 - $112.50.
Hispanic Heritage Concert, 3 p.m. The Friends of the Ossining Public Library is sponsoring a concert in the library, at 53 Croton Ave., featuring Puro Tango. The event is free.
Hope for the Hudson, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food, games, vendors and non-profit groups will all be at Mariandale's Retreat and Conference Center, 299 N. Highland Ave. in Ossining. At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the Green Community Garden of Hope will offer a workshop on building your own compost system. At 12 p.m. there will be a hands-on event featuring "Lasagna Gardening." The event is free.
Briarcliff Manor Education Fund Luau, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. There will be food, cocktails and dancing with a Hawaiian theme at the Law Park pavilion. The event is a fundraiser for BMEF, a non-profit organization that provides support to Briarcliff schools. Tickets are $60 per person.
Morning Hike Along the Hudson, 10 a.m. Discover secret ins-and-outs of Croton Point Park and the Hudson River. Meet at the Nature Center at Croton Point Park. The event is free.
Autumn Clean-Up, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Help pick up litter, clear trails, repair the boardwalk and more at Cranberry Lake Preserve on Old Orchard Street in North White Plains.
Celebrate Children's Book Day, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dozens of children's book authors and illustrators will be at 89 West Sunnyside Lane in Tarrytown for readings, demonstrations, magic, music and book signings. Participants will include Daniel Kirk, author/illustrator of the Library Mouse series and Alyssa Capucilli, author of the Biscuit series. Admission costs $6 to $12.
Tracking and Tracing at the Sanctuary, 2 p.m. Learn the signs of various wildlife as you venture through tracking hot spots of the Marshlands Conservancy on Route 1 in Rye. The event is free.
