WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. An advisory by the Westchester County Department of Health notifying residents to stay out of the Hudson River at points south of Tarrytown, was lifted Tuesday evening.
The advisory was issued on Monday after The Department of Environmental Facilities discovered a sewage discharge from the North Yonkers Pump Station followed the storms of Hurricane Irene. The Department of Health advised all residents to not come in contact with the river during recreational activities such as swimming, kayaking and windsurfing.
The Department of Environmental Facilities notified the Department of Health that the sewage discharge had ceased and the elapsed time since the discharge had stopped allowed the sewage in the water to dissipate.
