Fireworks, Music, Parades For 4th Around Ossining

Fireworks, concerts and car crashes are all planned for the Fourth of July weekend around Ossining and Briarcliff. Here are details on the events:

Friday, July 1:

- Ossining fireworks will start at about 9:15 p.m. at the Louis Engel Waterfront Park. A concert in the park will start at 7:30 p.m. with music by "Channel One".

The Main Street bridge by the train station will be closed to traffic early in the evening, as will the Snowden Avenue bridge. After the bridges close, the best way to access the waterfront park will be by foot.

Saturday, July 2:

- A three-day demolition derby will begin at 7 p.m. at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck. The Megasaurus Car Crusher will get the party underway, and on July 4, there will be fireworks and music by the Hudson Valley Philharmonic.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m., and the derby begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children under five.

Sunday, July 3:

- Enjoy free music and fireworks at the Kensico Dam Music Fest. Music begins at 6 p.m. at the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. Parking is free, but carpooling is suggested.

- Celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with old-fashioned games and ice-cream making at Muscoot Farm on Route 100 in Somers. The event is free, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

- Enjoy holiday fireworks shows at 9:30 p.m. on the Playland Pier at Playland Park in Rye. Parking costs $7.

Monday, July 4:

- Sleepy Hollow will put on its fireworks show at 9 p.m. at Kingsland Point Park.

- Peekskill will have a parade at 10 a.m. down Highland Avenue, Division Street, South Street and Hudson Avenue, ending at Railroad Avenue. A concert will begin at 7:30 pm. on the riverfront by the train station, and fireworks will begin at dusk.

- Dobbs Ferry will start its July 4th celebration at noon with a flag raising and opening ceremonies put on by the American Legion Post #1048 Honor Guard. There will be music and a Master of Ceremonies, Joe Rooney. From 2 to 5 p.m. there will be an inflatable castle and slide for children. Fireworks will begin after sunset.

- Playland Park in Rye will have more fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on Playland Pier. Parking costs $10.
