Saratoga County resident Sandra Berliner, of Malta, was arrested Tuesday, Feb. 21 on multiple counts of grand larceny and falsifying business records, according to State Police.

Troopers began investigating after a business located in Wappinger Falls in Dutchess County contacted police saying a previous employee had stolen money and items from the company.

An investigation found that Berliner, who worked for the company for five years beginning in August 2016, had collected money on behalf of the business, but kept the money for herself without authorization, police said.

Investigators said Berliner also altered business records to try and hide the missing funds, and stole furniture belonging to the company.

Berliner surrendered to a State Police facility in Latham on Tuesday and was arraigned at the Coeymans Town Court. She was issued appearance tickets to the Stillwater Town Court and the Cairo Town Court, and was released on her own recognizance.
