Putnam Humane Society Pays Visit To Yorktown Kids Who Collected Donations

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - Children at The Learning Garden Day Care in Yorktown Heights got a treat last week, when Vicki DiCairano, Vice President of Putnam Humane Society (PHS) and volunteer Joanne Colangelo came in for a visit - with a friend.

The biggest hit for the children (who had collected donations for the shelter) was Abby, a former PHS resident adopted by DiCairano. The children played ball with Abby and gave her lots of pats on the head and in return Abby "thanked" them on behalf of her shelter friends.

The idea to put out a donation box came from teacher Chandra Lowe, and Director Raquel MacGregor loved the idea. They hope to make it a yearly event.
