The Make a Difference One Ray at a Time contest is seeking submissions from aspiring student photographers and artists in Westchester and Rockland counties.

The works should focus on the power of the sun and how it can help the Earth.

“Earth Day isn’t just about promoting renewable energy, it’s about demonstrating our support for the protection of the environment,” said Doug Hertz, president of Sunrise Solar Solutions, the local business sponsoring the contest. “We are committed to the communities we serve here in the Hudson Valley and we want to help educate children and their parents about the power of renewable energy.”

The contest is open to all Westchester and Rockland county students in grades 5-8.

Students are asked to submit original artwork or a photograph that demonstrates how the sun makes the Earth a better place and how it can help save energy and reduce our carbon footprint, according to contest organizers.

All submissions should be emailed in jpeg format to earthday@sunrisesolarllc.com by Wednesday, April 20.

The contest’s grand prize is an iPad mini 2. The winner may also have his/her work featured in Sunrise Solar Solutions marketing material.
