RYE, N.Y. Willowbrook Swim and Tennis Club coach Chris Jankowski took his place to watch not one, or two, but three of his swimmers in the boys 10-and-under 50-yard breaststroke at the 87th annual Westchester County Swimming Association Counties Championships at the pool at Playland Amusement Park.
Not only were Mariano, Juan Carlos and Jorge Desmaras in the same heat Monday, the 8-year-old triplets were also swimming side-by-side-by-side in lanes 3, 4 and 5.
It is a lot of fun having them all together, said Jankowski, who also coaches the trio with the Marlins Swim Club. They work well together, and they are so much fun to watch.
Jankowski, who swam in the championships for the Briarcliff Manor Club, said he could not recall twins swimming in the same race, let alone triplets. Jankowski said this is his first time coaching triplets.
What makes them so much fun is that they have different personalities and they play off each other really well, Jankowski said.
The boys are each others biggest supporters, he said. Jorge was the high-point winner for his age group, Jankowski said, and Mariano and Juan Carlos were cheering the loudest for him.
They just cant get enough of swimming, Jankowski said. They are always cheering for everyone on the team. They have great team spirit, and everyone on the team knows them and loves them.
