WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Harvey School’s hockey team begins play Saturday at 4:10 p.m. in the annual Scarsdale Raiders Tournament.
The Cavaliers meet Pearl River High School in their opening game. Scarsdale faces off against Clarkstown at 6:10 p.m. Scarsdale, undefeated this year, is ranked as the No. 1 team in the section and Clarkstown is No. 3.
For Harvey, it’s the team’s second tournament this season against big schools. Coach Alex Morse likes the idea of having the Cavaliers go up against tough competition.
“I welcome the challenge, and so do our players,'' Morse said. "Playing in tournaments against powerhouse teams allows us to step up for a big challenge.”
Harvey is led by high scoring captain Keith Lambert of Cortlandt Manor, who has 31 goals and 30 assists. He has five hat tricks.
Linemates Theo Rattner of Waccabuc and senior captain Connor Wilson are also having solid seasons. Rattner, a junior, has registered 34 points on 12 goals and 24 assists. Wilson has 13 goals and 14 assists. Harvey is also leaning heavily on senior goalie Mark Siegel of Mahopac, a 2014 Fairchester Athletic Association All-League player.
Harvey won the tournament in 2011 and made it to the title game last year before losing to Scarsdale.
If the Cavaliers beat Pearl River Saturday, they would play in the championship game Sunday evening following the consolation game. All of the games will be played at the E.J. Murray Ice Rink in Yonkers.
