The Board of Education recently accepted the gift from the BikeRun following a presentation by Jennifer Griff, Bedford Central parent and administrator and operations director for the BikeRun, according to a news release. Griff told the board that the BikeRun is donating $7,000 to the school district "to be used toward the replacement of the Fox Lane Campus track and turf field," according to the release. Griff said she was “delighted to present $7,000 to support the refurbishment of the track for necessary repairs. They are pleased to take extra money from the Bike Run to put toward things the District needs so desperately," according to the release.
Assistant Superintendent for Business Mark Betz said the BikeRun "is a wonderful event and hopes this contribution models for other community organizations to help support the campus track and field," according to the release.
The annual BikeRun was held in May and brought together 400 energetic elementary students from the district’s five elementary schools with parents, high school and community volunteers and community businesses, according to the release.
"As a result of the overwhelming community support and participation in previous years, the BikeRun organization is able to make contributions to support school district endeavors," representatives said in the release.
“We're so grateful for the dedicated work of all the BikeRun volunteers and their collective great work on behalf of our elementary students," board President Susan Elion Wollin said in the reelase. "We're excited to continue this partnership that benefits our entire school community.”
