While it’s true that fewer real estate transactions occur in the fall and winter compared to the height of the selling season in April, May and June, homebuyers who are searching in November, December or January are usually more serious and eager to make a move. This season offers another considerable bonus for homeowners who are considering selling their homes: low interest rates. The average commitment rate for a 30-year, conventional fixed-rate mortgage was 3.89 percent in September. A year ago, the rate was 4.16 percent.
