While on patrol shortly before 3 a.m. on Dec. 5, an officer stopped Andrew Letterese, 29 of Congers, for a traffic violation. On Monday, at approximately 6:30 p.m. an officer on patrol charged Barbara Adu-Gyamfi, 28, of Nanuet, with driving while intoxicated following an accident on Middletown Road in Pearl River. The officer reported that her breath smelled of alcohol and that her eyes were glassy when speaking with her. Police report that she was driving with a suspended license after she refused to do all field sobriety tests.

Police then tried to take Adu-Gyamfi into custody which she actively resisted. When officers did get her to the department, she refused to take a chemical test. Officers then charged her with felony first degree aggravated unlicensed operation and the misdemeanors of driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest. She was released on bail and is due back in court on Tuesday to answer all charges.

On Thursday, police stopped Christopher Douglas, 38 of the Bronx, for a traffic violation on the Pallisades Interstate Parkway in Pearl River. During the stop, the officer determined that Douglas was intoxicated and had him perform several standard field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed. When brought to the station, Douglas refused to take a chemical test. He was released on bail and is due in court on Jan. 11.
