PepsiCo Volunteers Help Towns in Their Backyard

MT KISCO, N.Y.--When Pepsi Beverages Company(PBC) renewed its lease to remain in its Somers location in March 2011 it simultaneously renewed its commitment to the Westchester community as a corporate neighbor. On June 15 and 16, the company put that promise on display with the fourth annual “PBC Gives Back Days” that had more than 500 employees volunteer their time and energy in different communities throughout Westchester, including Mt Kisco.

PepsiCo employees went to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Westchester where they helped to cleanup a picnic area and walking trail. PBC CEO Eric Foss and County Executive Rob Astorino were on hand to help with the renovations at the Boys and Girls Club, located at 351 East Main St. in Mt Kisco.

“With our office in Somers, the Boys and Girls Club is ‘in our backyard,’ so to speak. Many of our associates live in the area, so this event was a great way to display their commitment to their own communities,” said Joe Coussan, who works with public relations at Pepsi Beverages Company and is also a resident of Mt Kisco.

The “PBC Gives Back Days” had associated participate in 21 community projects throughout Westchester.

“We are thrilled to spread out across the community for PBC Gives Back community service days,” said Catherine Patterson, director, PBC community engagement.

As a Westchester County resident herself--she lives in Cornwall-on-Hudson with her husband and two kids-- Patterson is happy to give back to a community she is truly apart of professionally and personally.

“We’re committed to this area,” she said. “Our associates are proud to support the communities we call ‘home.’ Many of these projects are near and dear to our hearts.”

The Pepsi Beverages Company lease for its current location in Somers is for five years.
