The book talks about the Akita dog named Hachiko who accompanied his master to Shibuya station and returned in the evening to greet his master. After his master’s death, Hachiko continued the daily tradition, touching the hearts of the Japanese and becoming their most famous dog. The dog's legendary loyalty was immortalized by a statue at the train station, and he is a hero in many Japanese children's stories.

Hosono was bron in Tokyo in 1957 and graduated from Keio University with a degree in psychology. She has written on art lifestyles and travel for major Japanese magazines and newspapers. Recently, she worked as the vice president of the Japan Society of Fairfield County to promote cultural exchange and friendship between Japan and other countries.
