Fairfield County Called The Most Unequal Place In America

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - A recent study by Business Insider shows that in addition to Fairfield County being the wealthiest county in the country, it is also the most unequal place.

The study specifically notes that as of 2012, Bridgeport's per capita income was $19,743, with nearly a quarter of residents living below the poverty line, according to the US Census Bureau. However, the same year in Greenwich the per capita income was $83,270 and only 7.1 percent of residents live below the poverty line. 

The top 5 percent of Fairfield County residents possess nearly 30 percent of the county's income, while the bottom 20 percent own just 2.3 percent, according to the Business Insider ranking.
