BEDFORD HILLS, N.Y. -- The Bedford Town Board met Tuesday night to discuss how the budget will turn out, at least preliminarily, come late October. The board found its way through a litany of topics, mostly brought to the table by Kevin Winn, commissioner of the Bedford Department of Public Works.
While many of the topics came and went, a few held strong for the majority of the meeting, such as the possibility of metering parking spaces in Bedford. While the concept of metering might alarm some residents, Supervisor Lee V.A. Roberts insisted it is only a topic for discussion right now. She said that the board intends to evaluate any ideas, such as metering, that could possibly help next years budget.
Potential changes in leaf pickup for town residences were also discussed. The town is evaluating the option to have homeowners bag their own leaves or keep leaves on the lawn and mulch them.
Notably, a group of Bedford locals who are supportive of mulching for environmental and fiscal purposes, will hold a seminar called, "The Why's and How's of Leaf Mulching" on Oct. 6.
