  • Prato Trattoria (1892 Route 6 in the Putnam Plaza Shopping Center in Carmel)

However, there’s no shortage of authenticity or variety on the menu. From pizza and pasta to chicken, seafood, eggplant and more, there’s no doubt guests will find and enjoy their favorite Italian meal on the menu.

With a 4.5/5-star rating on Google and 4.7/5 stars on Facebook, it’s safe to say that Nonna’s Pizzeria is a top contender for the best Putnam County pies - and perhaps other Italian classics as well. While Nonna’s serves up all the best traditional specialty brick oven pies, you’ll also find some eccentric options like Chicken Scarpariello (chicken breast sautéed with hot cherry peppers and sausage in a white wine sauce), Italian Vegetarian (eggplant, spinach, roasted red peppers and garlic) and Baked Ziti (ziti pasta with ricotta, mozzarella and marinara).

Another popular specialty pie is the Frutti Di Mare, which includes shrimp, scallops, clams and calamari in marinara or Fra Diavolo sauce.

PLP claims to offer the best New York-style pizza north of New York City, which can’t be too far from the truth, judging by the restaurant’s 4.7/5-star Facebook rating. However, the pizzeria is also known for making its own homemade soups, including cream of chicken, beef barley, pasta Fagioli, chicken orzo and more.
