“We’re happy to offer this event for all the residents of Bedford Hills, who hold this library so close to their hearts and appreciate its essential role in our community,” said Executive Director Mary Esbjornson.
Heart of the Hamlet is a free festival open to all residents, local business and community groups. The festival features live musical performances by Sloan Wainwright, Jay Hitt, Judy Kass, and the Antioch Baptist Church gospel choir. Children's entertainers include Hudson Valley storyteller Jonathan Kruk, musician Zeb Haber and Nancy Coradin and Rachel Izes leading stories and songs in English and Spanish.
Festival activities include a scavenger hunt, giveaways, prizes, craft projects for families and children and an archaeological dig with Christopher Raxworthy, scientist for the American Museum of Natural History. The Bedford Hills Fire Department will show its antique fire truck.
Birthday cake will be served and hot dogs, snacks and lemonade will be on hand.
In the event of rain, the festival will be held at Bedford Hills Community House.
