Tidal departures could be around 1 foot above astronomical tides around noon to 3 p.m., the weather service warned. Vulnerable shore roads could flood, as well as basements that are prone to flooding, the advisory said.
Westchester County was also placed under a tornado watch Monday morning that is in effect until 5 p.m. The region has also been advised of possible hazardous weather for the rest of Monday that could include strong winds, heavy rain and a slight risk of severe thunderstorms.
Some minor urban and poor drainage flooding problems could occur Monday afternoon into the evening if rainfall reaches 1/2-inch or more during a short period of time, the weather service said.
