Damaging thunderstorms over western New York are moving easterly toward the Hudson Valley on Monday evening.

Although the thunderstorms will be weakening, they look to cross the area late Monday into early Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms will be capable of producing gusty winds, heavy rainfall and lightning.

Storms that move through the area will be followed by a mix of showers and more scattered storms in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday.

After the storm passes by daybreak, Tuesday will be a partly sunny day with a high in the low 70s.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny but cooler, with a high around 60.

Rain is expected to return Thursday night following a partly sunny day with a high in the low 60s.

Rain will continue into Friday.
