Earlier report:

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for much of the Hudson Valley for Friday afternoon.

The warning, issued by the National Weather Service, went into effect at 12:30 p.m., and lasts until 5 p.m. Friday.

The warning was upgraded to cover all of Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties. It does not include Northern Westchester, Putnam or Dutchess at this time.

Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include Yonkers, New Rochelle and White Plains, according to the National Weather Service.

Steady rain started in the late morning and will remain heavy through around 3 p.m., accompanied by gusty winds. Thunderstorms are possible, with some of the storms producing more heavy rainfall.

Rain will continue Friday night, with more thunderstorms possible before midnight, followed by more rain between midnight and 3 a.m. Saturday and showers after 3 a.m.

The rest of the day Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature will be in the low 60s.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers on Sunday, otherwise it will be partly sunny with a high near 60. Sunday night will be mostly cloudy and colder, with a low around 40.

The colder air will continue as the workweek starts Monday, with the high struggling to climb out of the low 50s under partly cloudy skies.
