An Excessive Heat Warning is now in effect for Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties through 10 p.m. Sunday as oppressive humidity and temperatures reaching the 90s will last through the weekend.

Heat index values will be between 105 and 110 degrees on Saturday and around 105 degrees on Sunday.

An excessive heat warning is issued by the National Weather Service when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it's 105 degrees or higher.

Persons with illnesses, seniors and those without air conditioning should take special precautions during a heat advisory which can cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Sunday calls for more of the same with partly sunny skies and a high at or near 95 degrees. Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon, could produce gusty winds and heavy rain.
