The incident happened around 10:20 a.m. Friday, April 11, in Boca Raton, and created a large plume of smoke visible for miles.

The victims were all those on board the Cessna 310, Boca Raton Fire Rescue said.

They have now been identified as family members Robert Stark, age 81, of Boca Raton, Stephen Stark, age 54, of Delray Beach, Florida, and Brooke Stark, age 17, also of Delray Beach, Florida.

Authorities have not specified who was flying the plane.

One person on the ground, a 24-year-old man who lost control of his 2017 Toyota Prius amid the fire after the plane went down and crashed into a tree, was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The aircraft apparently had some mechanical issues, Boca Raton Fire Rescue said.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will conduct the investigation of the crash with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The plane was bound for Tallahassee International Airport, the FAA said.
