Sister Act is the feel-amazing musical comedy smash based on the 1992 film starring legendary star Whoopi Goldberg. It tells the story of a woman hiding in a convent who helps her fellow sisters find their voice as she rediscovers her own. Filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story, Sister Act has been a favorite for theater and movie-goers for more than two decades.

Performances of “Sister Act,” appropriate for the entire family, will be staged at Stepinac's Major Bowes Auditorium on at 7:30 p.m. on April 29, 30 and May 6, 7 and at 2 p.m. on May 8. Ticket prices are $22 for adults and $18 for children under the age of 12 and seniors. The May 6 performance will feature “Nun Night” when all religious nuns can pre-order one complimentary ticket (based on availability). Tickets can be ordered by calling 914-946-4800, ext. 200

Since 1949, the school’s Drama Club has won critical acclaim for its productions of fall dramas and spring musicals. Last year, Stepinac was the first high school in the nation that was licensed to stage Elton John’s Tony-award winning musical, “Billy Elliot,” which garnered top Metro Awards. Stepinac Drama Club productions have nurtured the talents of many young students. Some went on to greater fame including Academy Award winner Jon Voight and Emmy-Award winner Alan Alda.

The Stepinac Drama Club is headed by Frank Portanova, Vice Principal for Academics and Curriculum who serves as Director and Keith Sunderland, who is the Producer.
