The American Academy of Neurology and the Child Neurology Society is granting the Neuroscience Research Prize to four students across the country based on their neuroscience backgrounds and achievements.
The Byram High School seniors, Samantha Abbruzzese and Rachel Chernoff, are students in the school’s Dr. Robert Pavlica Authentic Science Research Program and were selected from 74 entrants high school around the country.
“We are very proud of these two accomplished women who are passionate about neuroscience and have the highest standards for the work they produce,” said Stephanie Greenwald, the program’s director.
There are 12 total finalists advancing to the next round, all of whom were notified this week. The final four winners will be announced in February and receive $1,000 each.
Additionally, each of the four winners will have the opportunity to present their work at the annual meeting held by the academy in Philadelphia. The fourth winner, as well as a teacher, will also have the chance to present at the academy’s meeting.
