The awards program's goal is to recognize the outstanding work of AACN member schools to re-envision traditional models for nursing education and lead programmatic change.

The innovation awards are given to four institutional categories: Small Schools; Academic Health Center (AHC); Private Schools without an AHC; and Public Schools without an AHC. Pace University was selected to receive the 2015 award in the Private Schools without an Academic Health Centers category.

Team members recognized for their work in securing the award are Sophie Kaufman, Lin Drury, Lucille Ferrara, and Joanne DeMarco. Their work with Appreciative Inquiry, is a model for analysis that evaluates outcomes through a positive lens, and it is changing the culture of the Lienhard School of Nursing.

The award will be presented this October during the Fall Semiannual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
