Trial Starts For State Senator Accused Of Lying About Son's Westchester Job

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- New York State Sen. Thomas Libous' trial for allegedly lying to FBI officials about how his son, Matthew secured his job at a Westchester County Law firm, began on Monday, according LoHud.com.

Libous, who has served in the state senate since 1988, allegedly promised the firm Santangelo Randazzo & Mangone more work if it brought on his son. He also allegedly asked twice to have the firm raise his son's salary and even reportedly claimed the lobbying firm of Fred Hiffa would pick up a portion of the tab, LoHud.com reported.

Libous has denied any of the allegations ever took place, LoHud.com said.
