This story has been updated.

Republicans are saying "nyet," when it comes to commenting on Donald Trump, Jr. meeting with a Russian lawyer who an intermediary said had incriminating information on Chappaqua's Hillary Clinton.

Trump, Jr., then-campaign manager Paul Manafort and adviser Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law, met with the Kremlin-connected lawyer after being told she had the information on Clinton and her dealings with Russia.

A spokesman for Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook) said Faso does not have a comment on this story while the facts are still materializing.

Michael Jefferson, spokesman for Senator Terrence Murphy said Murphy was working to make New York more affordable.

"While the politicians argue about what the Kremlin is up to, the public servants are focused on governing," Jefferson said.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino declined to comment. A spokesman for Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said he was out of the office due to a death in the family and was not available for comment.

Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump Jr. posted the email exchange with publicist Rob Goldstone on Twitter after being told by The Times that it was about to publish them. You can view them by clicking here.

By having the meeting, Trump Jr. may have violated federal campaign laws for solicitation.
