The campaign for New York state's 247 Democratic delegates and 95 Republican delegates has been in full swing for three weeks, with Hillary Clinton of Chappaqua and Donald Trump of Manhattan leading their respective political parties in polling and delegate vote totals less than seven months before the November election.
Clinton made a surprise visit on Sunday to Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon as reported here by Daily Voice.
Meanwhile, Trump spoke about Second Amendment rights to own firearms at a rally in Poughkeepsie and former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was in White Plains on Sunday stumping for Clinton and stronger gun control. Giffords of Arizona was gravely injured by a gunman.
Clinton kicked off her New York primary campaign at Purchase College on March 31 speaking out strongly in favor of tougher gun control laws.
Clinton, a former New York senator, First Lady and Secretary of State, faces Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in Tuesday's primary. Sanders has enjoyed increased support during recent primary elections, especially among first-time voters including college students.
A protest rally was held Sunday outside Clinton's Brooklyn campaign headquarters to bring attention to her support for continued troop presence in the Middle East and a "military-industrial complex," according to a non-profit group called Show Up! America.
Clinton had a campaign event Monday afternoon in Manhattan while Sanders planned an evening event in Queens. Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich were campaigning Upstate while Texas Sen. Ted Cruz was in New York City.
Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
