Westchester Man Busted By State Police With .21 Percent BAC, Police Say

A man driving drunk with a blood-alcohol content nearly triple the legal limit was arrested for his second DWI in Westchester, police said.

New York State Police troopers stopped a vehicle on I-287 in Greenburgh shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, when the driver, Elmsford resident Alexander Ramos committed several vehicle and traffic violations.

During the subsequent stop, troopers said that Ramos, was found to be intoxicated and he was arrested. At the New York State Police barracks in Tarrytown, a breathalyzer determined that Ramos’ blood alcohol content was .21 percent. Ramos was also driving with a suspended license and had previously been convicted of a DWI within the past 10 years.

Ramos, 37, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was also cited for various vehicle and traffic violations. Ramos was released to a sober third-party and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Greenburgh Court on Jan. 22 to respond to the charges.
