WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N. Y. -- The president of the union representing Westchester County police says the department is down five people with the potential for three more, which could put public safety at risk, according to lohud.com.

Michael Hagan, president of the Police Benevolent Association, said he's hopeful county leaders will find the funds to fill those positions and bring the department back to the 330-officer level originally planned for this year. He said the county has not filled three new positions called for in this year's $1.8 billion budget, lohud.com reports.
