NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. -- An investigation of a "suspicious item" found in a park and response to a man whose vehicle wound up in the Windmill Dam kept officer busy last week, according to North Castle Police.
The suspect item was reported by a man Aug. 9 at 9:48 a.m. who had pictures, said police.
He told police he found the alleged item about a half mile into the preserve on Old Route 22, said police.
The person went back to the parking area to meet with officers, according to police.
Police were able to determine the suspect item was a rock with a bored out center, and it was determined not to be suspicious, they said.
The car v. deer incident was Aug. 6 when a man told police a deer rant out in front of his, causing him to swerve and drive off the roadway and into the water near Windmill Dam, police said.
The person reportedly had gotten out of the vehicle uninjured, according to police. An officer responded to the scene and requested a tow to get the vehicle out of the water, said police.
