One Killed As Fire Breaks Out In Westchester Apartment Complex

A man was killed when a fire broke out Saturday night at an apartment complex in Mount Vernon, according to authorities.

The blaze, on South Columbus Avenue, began just before 7 p.m. in the top floor of the four-story building in which more than 100 residents live.

At least five families who were displaced are being aided by the American Red Cross.

The identity of the man has not yet been released. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
