A safe was reported to have been removed from Admiral Wine & Liquors at Sir John’s Plaza, a strip mall on North Broadway, police said.

Police said they believe that the suspect or suspects gained entry by smashing the glass on the store’s front door.

The break-in remains under investigation, police said.

Here are some other police blotter items:

  • Friday, Oct. 7, 1:23 p.m.: Police were notified by fire officials about an incident at a residence on Mount Kisco Road. Contractors working on the home had somehow left a small amount of paint thinner in a bag of sawdust, causing it to combust. The fire was contained to the bag, which was brought outside and doused with water. The contractors were advised on the proper handling of the materials involved, police said.
  • Monday, Oct. 10, 11 a.m.: Police were called to a home by a 12-year-old boy who called 911 after he saw an “unfamiliar male” in his front yard. After describing the man as wearing “blue jeans,” the frightened child hid in a bedroom closet until police arrived. The man turned out to be a contractor, police said.
