An officer doing his routine patrol on Friday, Nov. 25, reported that vandals had hit a Con Edison voltage station located between Reservoir Road and a parking lot at 670 North Broadway.
Later that same day, more graffiti was seen on Virginia Road on a former moving and storage building now owned by Metro North Railroad, police said.
Graffiti was also seen by police on a Verizon-owned utility box on a Lafayette Avenue telephone pole.
Another Verizon-owned utility box on Church Street was also vandalized with spray paint, police said.
Photographs were taken of all the damaged sites, police said.
In other police blotter news:
- Friday, Nov. 25: A Mead Road resident called police to report finding a Wire Hair Fox Terrier. Since no one had called about a missing dog, the good Samaritan volunteered to hang onto it until further notice, police said.
- Saturday, Nov. 26: A resident of Cider Mill Circle told police that someone may have tried to force in his front door while he was out. The homeowner said when he first came home, he entered through a side door and didn’t notice that his front door had been damaged. He told police it doesn’t appear the would-be burglar got inside or took anything. The neighborhood was canvassed with negative results. The case has been turned over to the police department’s detective division.
- Tuesday, Nov. 29: Police received a call around 7 p.m. from a motorist who said he had been approached by a woman at the intersection of Route 22 and Business Park Drive who claimed to have been assaulted. She asked the driver to call police because her cell phone was dead. Police responded and spoke to the woman. Further details could not be learned Monday.
