A woman driving a Mercedes-Benz was busted for allegedly drunk for the second time when she crashed near a busy Scarsdale intersection, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Walworth Avenue and Berkeley Road at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, where there was a report of a crash that required an airbag deployment of the Mercedes.

Upon arrival, officers found the Mercedes convertible with severe front-end damage and a woman - later identified as Staten Island resident Loren Messina - in the front seat, with the key in the ignition and engine running while the car was idle. Messina, 31, was asked if she was injured, to which she said that “her legs hurt.”

Police said that while gathering information, “it became apparent that Messina was intoxicated by alcohol.” She had alcohol on her breath and her eyes were glassy, bloodshot and her speech was “severely slurred.”

When asked to step out of the car, officers said that Messina was unsteady on her feet, unable to walk normally or keep her balance, and asked if she could sit on the curb. When asked if she was under the influence, she responded “no.” When prompted about where she was coming from, she stated she had been on Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains and was heading to work in Clarke’s Bar in Yonkers.

Messina refused to submit to any Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was told by officers that the refusal would lead to her arrest. She refused a second time and was taken into custody. Messina was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction and refusal to take a breath test. She has since been released and is due in Scarsdale Village Court at a later date to answer the charge.
