A warrant search turned up with a stockpile of weapons, including illegal assault rifles with large capacity magazines, in the Hudson Valley.
State Police from Cortlandt and Wappinger executed a search warrant at Max Way in the village of Fishkill on Friday, Feb. 16 pursuant to a grand larceny investigation regarding 44-year-old Kim Amato of Poughkeepsie.
During the execution of the search warrant, three illegal assault rifles with large capacity magazines, one taser, brass knuckles, and a baton were located which 48-year-old Poughkpeesie resident Scott H. Strack claimed ownership of, police said.
Strack was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, all class D felonies, as well as three counts each of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and possession of a large capacity ammunition feed device, all Class A misdemeanors. Investigators from the Cortlandt barracks also arrested Amato and charged her with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a Class E felony.
Strack was arraigned before the Town of Wappinger Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond. Amato was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Cortlandt Court on Thursday, Feb. 22.
