State Senator Indicted In White Plains On Charges Of Lying To Feds

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- State Sen. Thomas W. Libous was indicted in White Plains on Tuesday, July 1, on charges of lying to federal agents, according to The New York Times.

Libous, 61, of Binghamton, faces up to five years in prison, which could have significant ramifications on the Republican's tenuous hold on the State Senate, The Times reported.

The charges against Libous stem from an investigation into whether or not the senator got a job at a law firm for his son in exchange for sending state business to the firm, The Times said.

Libous' son, Matthew Libous was also indicted on charges of filing false tax returns, according to The Times.
