A 28-year-old serial burglar accused of committing crimes in more than a dozen municipalities has admitted to his role in a string of burglaries dating back to last summer.

Cortlandt Manor resident Julian Montgomery pleaded guilty on Tuesday, March 19 to three felony counts of burglary in Greenburgh and surrounding areas in August and September last year, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced.

Last summer, a series of burglaries were reported in Ardsley and Edgemont, prompting an extensive police investigation. Scarpino said that investigators found several similarities in each of the burglary incidents and discovered that the same vehicle was seen near multiple crime scenes throughout the area.

Scarpino said that investigators were able to track Montgomery’s car, leading them to a New Castle residence on Sept. 18, 2018. Upon arriving at the scene, Montgomery was spotted running from the residence with a bag of jewelry in his hand and he was subsequently arrested.

Further investigation at Montgomery’s home, his vehicles and a rented storage unit led to the recovery of stolen property that was identified from several burglary victims throughout the county.

According to Scarpino, Montgomery was found to have committed no less than 15 burglaries in Greenburgh, New Castle, Bronxville, Pleasantville, Ardsley, Town of Mamaroneck, Village of Mamaroneck, Rye Brook, Scarsdale and Tarrytown.

Montgomery was remanded into custody following the guilty plea and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 17.
