Evening rush-hour train commuters should be prepared for crowds and street closures Thursday evening near Grand Central due to a protest of an appearance by presidential candidate Donald Trump, Metro-North warns.

"Due to nearby demonstrations starting at 5 p.m.," Metro-North says on its website, "Please allow for extra travel time to/from Grand Central. Customers are encouraged to use the North End Access to the Terminal at either the 47th & Madison or 48th & Park Entrances."

Thousands of protesters are expected outside the Grand Hyatt Hotel, which is next to Grand Central. Trump is to appear at a $1,000 per person New York State Republican Gala event there. Fellow GOP hopefuls Ted Cruz and John Kasich are also expected to attend the gala.

A Facebook page is urging people to rally and protest against Trump's bid for the presidency.

"We have listened for long enough. Now it is time to come together against hate. It is time to stand on the shoulders of those who built our city, and come together as New Yorkers and say, "Mr. Trump - you do not speak for us; you do not represent us and we will not let your bigotry, xenophobia, misogyny, racism and hatred go unanswered anymore.

"Since June, we have listened to Donald Trump attack women, Mexicans, Muslims, the disabled, and anyone who didn't support Making America Hate Again. We have listened to Mr. Trump encourage his supporters to "knock the hell" out of protestors offering to pay their legal fees and suggest that he’d like to “punch (a protestor) in the face.” We have listened to him disparage his fellow republican candidates, denigrate the democratic candidates, belittle the press and deprecate all who disagree with him.

"On this day we will come together, and say no to his thirst for hatred, and violence."

The post said music and a rally will begin at 4 p.m. at the southeast corner of 42nd Street and 7th Avenue, with a march to the Grand Hyatt stepping off at 5:30 p.m.

Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle and Trump Park Residences in Yorktown.
