The identity has been released for the person killed in a single-vehicle crash after hitting a tree and utility wires, before slamming into a building.

The crash took place around 10:18 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, on Post Road (Route 1) with the intersection with Cross Lane in Cos Cob, according to Greenwich Police.

The vehicle, a 2008 Ford Taurus, had been traveling east when it left the roadway and struck a tree and utility wires before it ended up colliding with the commercial building located at 121 Post Road, police said.

The driver of the Taurus, now identified as Andrew Miller, 27, of Bridgeport, sustained significant injuries and after being extricated from his vehicle was transported to Stamford Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said police.

Notification of the next of kin is pending.

The building at 121 Post Road, which had been unoccupied at the time of the crash, has been examined and declared unsafe by the Town of Greenwich Building Inspectors.

The collision remains under investigation by the Greenwich Police Traffic Section.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any other information is asked to contact Traffic Technician Drenth at (203) 622-8014.
