White Plains Hospital Taps New Pathology Director For First Time In Decades

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains Hospital has named Dr. Baljit Singh as the hospital's new director of pathology, the first new appointment to the role in nearly three decades.

Singh assumed his new position by replacing longtime pathology director, Dr. Deena Shah who recently retired after nearly 30 years of service to the organization. Singh will oversee the clinical laboratory at White Plains Hospital, which is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and performs nearly two million tests annually.

Singh comes to White Plains Hospital from New York University School of Medicine and Langone Medical Center, where he was associate professor of Pathology and director of Breast Pathology and Immunohistochemistry. Additionally, he served as director of Surgical Pathology at Hospital of Joint Diseases.

A native of India, he received his medical degree and completed his internal medicine internship at Rohtak Medical College in Haryana, India. After completing a Pathology residency at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, Singh completed four Anatomic Pathology residency programs, one at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital and three at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Thanks to his studies, Singh is board certified in Anatomic Pathology.
