Thanksgiving Eve Crash Kills NJ Mom Support is on the rise for a New Jersey family whose matriarch died in a crash the day before Thanksgiving. Lauren Gerhold, of Hackettstown, was heading north in a Jeep SUV on Route 517 in Allamuchy Township around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, when a Jeep Wrangler heading east on Ridge Road struck the passenger's side of a Fort pickup truck, heading south on Route 517, New Jersey State Police said. The gunman robbed the attendant outside at the QuickChek on Route 517 in Independence Township before driving off in a dark-colored BMW around 10:45 p.m., the outlet reports, citing police Lt. Christopher Prell. State police chased the suspect vehicle through several neighboring towns before losing contact, the report says. Man In Custody After Leading Police On Pursuit Through Morris, Sussex A 19-year-old man from Bayonne was taken into custody after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle up Route 46 in Morris County, authorities said. A police officer spotted a 2011 Volks Wagon driving erratically on Route 46 westbound after leaving the the Shell Gas Station around 12:15 a.m. Monday, Mount Olive police said in a news release. A check of the car's registration showed it had been stolen. The driver, later identified as Austin Pember, has previously been arrested for an armed robbery and attack in Jersey City.
