Wyckoff Scholarship Challenges Students To 'Shark Tank' Contest

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- The Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual "Shark Tank" Scholarship Challenge.

Applicants can be an Indian Hills or Ramapo High School student, a Wyckoff resident from any private school. Submissions from any Chamber member's child or employee who is a high school student will also be accepted. Winners can receive up to $2,000.

Applicants will submit a basic business idea that they believe would be a successful venture in the real world. 

For the application to be accepted the following criteria should be met but is not limited to: 

  • Idea for a product or service that is unique and feasible 
  • How and where will the product be made and\or the service provided?
  • What is the estimated cost of manufacturing the product or for the providing of the service? 
  • Where will the product be sold or the service provided? 
  • What is the estimated potential profit of the business? 
  • What is the growth potential of the product or service?
A panel of judges will pick the 10 best ideas and then these applicants will proceed to the second step which consists of creating and making a presentation before the judges. 

The presentation can use any medium the applicant cares to use but the presentation should not last more than five minutes. 

A special scholarship will be given to the business idea that is considered the most "Green" or environmentally friendly.

Deadline for submissions is Friday April 22.
