Invited In, Detectives Find 3,761 Heroin Folds, Nearly 2 Pounds Pot, Coke, Passaic Sheriff Says

Saying she had “nothing to hide,” a Paterson woman invited Passaic County sheriff’s detectives into what turned out to be a drug packaging and distribution center, where they found 3,761 heroin folds, three-quarters of a pound of cocaine and a pound of pot, authorities said.

Seized along with the $32,500 worth of drugs were a loaded Glock 23 handgun reported stolen from Pennsylvania -- with an extended magazine loaded with 19 more rounds, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.

Also found were 92 .380-caliber bullets and 22 .40-caliber bullets, three digital scales and two grinders, he said.

Sheriff’s detectives acting on a tip went to the first-floor Ellison Street apartment late Tuesday and found 23-year-old Deliza Arias-Jimenez on the porch talking on a cellphone, Berdnik said.

They told her of the “information they received of illegal drug activity inside her apartment,” the sheriff said.

Jimenez “confidently expressed to the detectives she had nothing to hide and invited the detectives into her apartment to talk because she was cold due to the weather,” Berdnik said.

“The detectives were escorted inside the apartment and [continued] the conversation in the living room,” the sheriff said.

That’s when they noticed a fold of heroin on the living-room floor, he said.

They later found the gun, drugs and equipment in her bedroom, Berdnik said.

Jimenez remained held Wednesday in the Passaic County Jail, charged with illegal possession of both a handgun and a large-capacity magazine, maintaining a drug production facility and various drug possession counts.
