A 44-year-old Budd Lake man is facing several charges after drunkenly crashing his car into a highway guardrail, driving away and then blowing a red light, authorities said.
Elias N. Otalora-Losada was headed westbound on Route 46 when he crashed his 2014 Nissan into a guardrail and then left the scene, failing to stop at the traffic signal at the intersection of International Drive early Sunday morning, Mount Olive police said in a news release.
A police officer stopped Otalora-Losada near the Village Green Shopping Center where he was arrested following a field sobriety test, authorities said.
Otalora-Losada was transported to police headquarters -- where he underwent a chemical breath test -- and subsequently charged with leaving the scene of an accident, DWI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, unlicensed driving and more.
He was released to a sober driver pending a court hearing.
