A U.S. Army veteran of the Far East, Stevenson served under Gen. Douglas MacArthur. He had undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan State University, and he retired as a senior engineer from Avon Products-International in 1987, after 32 years.
Stevenson was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church in Wyckoff for 40 years and recently Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; daughters Mary Tara Zier, Mary Agnes Correll and Mary Lou Squires; grandchildren Kevin Correll, Kerriann Zier, Brian Correll, Marybeth Zier McDonough, Grace Correll, William Squires and Elizabeth Squires; and sister Kathleen Martineau.
Stevenson was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Raymond Stevenson.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., in Wyckoff. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 787 Franklin Lake Rd., in Franklin Lakes. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, in Franklin Lakes.
