He was born in Englewood, residing in Ridgefield before moving to Upper Saddle River in 2001.
Leathem was predeceased by his grandparents, Charles and Marie Schoener and Theodore G. and Rosemary Leathem.
He is survived by his parents, Theodore H. and Jacalyn (nee Schoener), brother Ted and his wife Rosanne of Mahwah, nieces Haley and Michaela, two uncles, Thomas of Manchester Township and Douglass Schoener of Florida.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, located at 257 Godwin Avenue in Wyckoff.
A funeral service will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
A private cremation will follow.
