Stephen A. Kulpa, 71, Of Wyckoff

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Stephen A. Kulpa, 71, of Wyckoff, died Friday, Dec. 25. 

He was born in Holyoke, Mass., and lived in Puerto Rico and Oakland, N.J., before moving to Wyckoff 45 years ago. 

He was an optician for 47 years and owned Franklin Lakes Opticians for 20 years before his retirement in 2006. 

He was a Fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathy; his children, Stephen Kulpa Jr. and his wife Tracy and Susan Kanning and her husband Kevin; and his grandchildren, Sienna and Mason Kulpa and Kevin and Kylie Kanning. Also surviving are his sister, Linda Kwiatkowski; and brother, Arthur Kulpa and his wife, Marcia.

He was predeceased by his parents, Stefan and Ernestine Kulpa; and his brother-in-law, Stanley Kwiatkowski. 

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth’s R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, 980 Huron Road, Franklin Lakes.
